Cabezon Mist

I have passed by Cabezon Peak so many times on my way back and forth between New Mexico and Colorado.  Finally I stopped to study the scene from Highway 550.  The myriad volcanic cones surrounding Cabezon created a fantasy landscape early evening, when the dust in the air became lit up by the low angle of the sun.  Many new cones revealed themselves in layers at this time of day, seeming to float in a sea of mist.
